What medical technology and medical advances do you see happing in 15 to 20 years from now?
Like what cutting edge medical technology and medical advances do you see coming out ? Media does talk about this.

- There was once a quote...."I believe in future there is a global market is 5 computers".... couple years later..there were hundreds and thousands later..and now.. Anything could happen to 15-20 years. Hopefully they will cure cancer...:D
- No one can predict because of the incredible leaps occurring all the time in technology. Advances bring even more advances.
- I believe that advancements in science and medicine will create a dangerous gap between the wealthy and the poor .
- Doctors will be more overpriced than now... all in the name of health care they say.
- You're asking for pure speculation. There could be some astounding medical breakthrough in a year or two that will be a game changer in treating some particular disease, but who knows what that disease might be? Or, there could actually be very little progress, particularly if Obamacare stands and the incentive to enter the medical profession is killed off. We COULD see a sharp DETERIORATION of medical care in a few years if Obamacare is not killed off. Medical progress tends to be slow and plodding, with new drugs coming along now and then, but rarely something earth shattering. As for other predictions, sorry, my crystal ball is in the shop being repaired right now.
- Gene therapy has been largely elusive up to now, but I think scientists will crack the code for some diseases at least. More directed treatments for cancer at the cellular level. Nurses are truly wonderful people, but 20 years from now, they will still not be able to brew a decent cup of coffee on the night shift.
- Improvements take either the form of either; 1. increasing the sophistication of existing knowledge or, 2. making existing technology much cheaper and more accessible. I think its clear that number 2 is inevitable which means more people will benefit from what we can do today. Technology that depends purely on electronics and engineering, judging by past performance, has to get better and better. Compare you mobile phone of today with what you used 5 years ago. I think we are quite good at taking expensive and uncomfortable diagnostic procedures and making them more user-friendly. Understanding the way the human body works about what we can do to control it, is a much harder cookie to crack. It takes at least 15-20 years for medical tech in the laboratory to meet with real people. So..... what are we working on today? Its realistic that we be able to tackle more illnesses but in my opinion, greater life expectancy and quality of life is achieved by improving the way we live. Current wisdom tells us that we should; live in a reasonably clean environment, eat sensibly, not smoke, not be too promiscuous..... I think that will still be the case 100 years from now.
